      Hello toastcrumb,

Na man just no luck using the linsys as the router and the older one as the gateway ,

Why not try to use the linksys as your gateway and the sky router and the router ?

I was able to get this to work with my set up,

I have cable and to the set up is :

Cable modem -----> Linksys -----> Other rotuer (non wireless)
All pc`s connecting from the linksys and other routers can all connect ok !

Ok on the other router i had to change the lan ip range to some thng like 10.10.10.1 Ect but this seems to work ,

The Linksys has no inbuilt modem, so I cannot configure the PPPoA access on it. Could I still use it as a gateway if the DG834 is attached by RJ45 as the modem?

ok if you have the linksys plugged in to the sky router can you then plug in to the linksys and access its router page to see what ip address the router is getting from the sky router ,

Also going by the screen shot you gave it would seem the linksys rotuer is a cable router ,

Go in to the router page and check if its getting a ip address from the sky router .

      Re: DG834GT + Linksys WRT54GL + networking imbecile

      Hi Steven,

It's no good, my ISP needs PPPoA and the WRT54GL can only do PPPoE. I'll need to get a stand alone modem such as a Draytek Vigor to bridge those settings.

Thanks for all your help though, I appreciate the time spent but there's now way the crappy DG834 can do what I need it to do.

      Hello toastcrumb,

I think you are getting mixed up,

I would like you to try this,

From the master socket have the sky router plugged in ,
From the back of the sky rourer say port 1 plug a ethernet cable going in to the linksys router ,

If you leave the linksys router on Auto config - DHCP like this ,

The linksys router should pick up a ip address from the sky rourer like so ,

If you get this the connection should work,
Try pinging from the linksys router and so on ,

No harm in trying this fingers crossed for you man .
