      A slingbox would do that

And that would allow you to watch what's being played live on your Sky box (at home) while you're at work

Sounds like a Slingbox to me.

      Re: sky on my laptop

Slingbox, definitely. When I was off work sick, I watched Sky on my laptop in bed using it - saved me walking down the stairs

You can change channel on the laptop as well, as it has a little infra-red thingy that plugs into the slingbox and then sits on the top of your Sky box.
