Can I use a SWITCH with Sky Broadband?

I am new to this SWITCH business. Basically, the problem is I have 2 Xbox's in my room, I want to connect them both wired to the net. I have 1 ethernet cable running into my room from PORT 1 from the router, as the router is in another room, I would not want another long cable running into the room.

So, to get over this problem. Could I plug the existing ethernet cable into a SWITCH in the wan port PLAY.COM SWITCH And then split that connection to the 2 Xbox's?

      Ok pings. (24/05/08)

The simple answer is yes, this should work fine, can't see sky having a problem with it. The only thing I would point out from your post is that the switch will NOT have a wan port but this is not a problem, just plug the current ethernet cable into the switch then 2 more for the Xbox's
