*** Special Request for those who can Flash Firmware ***

Hi this is a special request for anyone who has flashed their Sky Netgear Router back to the original Netgear Firmware.

If I was prepared to pay for the P&P could I post you my Router, can you flash it to the latest netgear firmware for me and send it back?

Whilst no one knows exactly why some people cannot flash the routers, it's thought that the Network Card is to blame and only certain cards work.

Please only respond if you have successfully done this before and would be happy to help out a fellow Sky User

      Thanks all!

      Chris.

Re: *** Special Request for those who can Flash Firmware ***

why do you not just use the username and password from you sky router and buy another router to use ?

i say this because if you get someone to flash your router, if/when sky start to enforce there policy about the sky routers you would be stuck (unable to flash it back) and may get cut off !

if you used another router and sky enforced there T&C's you would be able to swap it back with no problems

Re: *** Special Request for those who can Flash Firmware ***

If you use the Netgear Recovery Utility to put the standard Netgear firmware onto your Sky DG834GT, you can put the Sky firmware back on it by using the same technique.

But as I understand it, the OP has moved from Sky to AOL and is looking to use his Sky router with AOL, so there's no issue about getting putting the Sky firmware back on it.

I've created a version of the standard Netgear firmware which can be loaded onto the Sky router without having to use the Netgear Recovery Utility: DG834GT-1SKUKS_V1.02.13.img.

Warning! Do not use this firmware image if you are a Sky Broadband user. It is only intended for people who have left Sky and who want to use their Sky router with their new ISP.

      Hold this thread

If it works we should really create a new sticky thread in the sky router forum as it'll be a real breakthrough for many.

Re: *** Special Request for those who can Flash Firmware ***

Here's Netgear's standard firmware version V1.02.14, modified so that it can be installed on a Sky DG834GT router. This will be useful for people who want to "unlock" their router for use with any ISP, but who can't get the Netgear Recovery Utility to work: DG834GT-1SKUKS_V1.02.14.img.

This version finally has support for WDS!

Warning! Do not use this firmware image if you are a Sky Broadband user. It is only intended for people who have left Sky and who want to use their Sky router with their new ISP.

I hope you don't mind James but in the interest of helping others I have created a thread here with a link to the file (full credit to yourself)

Feel free to add to it where necessary.

Whooooa there! Hacks, cracks and various other bits of witchcraft are usually best kept in the Technical Help section of the forum, rather than the Sky Broadband Help and Support section.
