    smart hosts / open relay

    This is a discussion on smart hosts / open relay within the Asking for help forums, part of the Broadband Technical Help category; i have set up an exchange server at home but when sending emails they are not delived as ISP's do ...

      smart hosts / open relay

      i have set up an exchange server at home but when sending emails they are not delived as ISP's do not alow emails sent from a dynamic ip address, i was wondering sky have a smart host and the details of this so i can route emails through sky's smtp server which i belive will solve the problem or can i get an open relay set up?

      any help would be great

      I've paid 15dollars (I think) a year to use dyndns.org's SMTP forwarding servers.

      remember, Sky is a CONSUMER service - running a mail server isn't something the average consumer does, so you'd have to pay for the service. Sky won't do it...

      You don't have to run a business to have a mail server, I have a few domains I do spam filtering on for friends and family.
      There is no p in Thomson.

      oh i know, but im just saying its not what Sky would offer support for as Sky BB is literally a connection service, nothing extra

      You can use smtp.sky.com as a smart mail host. At least for now - I've no idea if Sky have plans for decommissioning it, now that all Sky's customers have moved over to Google mail.
