      Wireless Gaming with PC

      Hi

I have just started using Sky Broadband and everything seems fine until I play online games on my PC upstairs, the router is downstairs. I am using the wireless connection for my PC upstairs.

Connection seems fine and the speed is usually always good, though sometimes the game will just freeze and lag for about 5-10 seconds and then go back to normal. This happens quite often and makes it impossible to play the game properly (World of Warcraft).

On the tool bar, the connection always says very good, good or low, it never says it has lost the connection.

I have only had it a couple days and when i phoned Sky they told me to wait 10 days because I should be on a test line.

Is this the person being lazy on the phone? or could he be right?

Has anyone else had a problem like this? and if so what can I do to fix it, as I need a stable line for the game.

As far as I'm aware there is only a 10 day training period for the connect package. As for gaming wirelessly, this is not a good idea - either get a cat5e extension run to the room with the pc in it or get an ethernet cable long enough to reach the pc from where the router is now.
      cheers

      Re: Wireless Gaming with PC

I have many friends who play the game through a wireless network, so this shouldn't be the problem. Would be kinda hard to get the cables from my room to the downstairs room as well, so i'm kinda hoping to still game wirelessly.

      Thanks for your post.

Just to join in, don't forget that you can buy those ethernet over plug socket plugs now.

Allow you to create a wired network over the electrics in your house already, just need cat5 from the computer to plug downstairs and then plug to computer upstairs.
