Can you get a static IP using SKY BB

I'm trying to use a Slingbox, which appears to work sporadically. If I manage to get it to work one day (by a combination of resets of the slingbox and the sky router), without fail, it will not work again the next day. So overnight there is some activity taking place somewhere that causes it not to work.

I have been reading through various furums/threads and it would appear that it is probably something to do with my IP address, and that a solution would be a static IP.

I know that Sky do not provide static IP addresses - so my question is - is there anyway of obtaining a static IP by using other methods unconnected with Sky.

Sorry if that seems a bit convoluted - I'm just trying to explain things as best as I can!

      Cheers,

      Tony

You can give out a static internal IP to the Slingbox. ie 192.168.0.5 or so.

If Sky provide a static IP for 5 per month, they have kept that one quiet. I do not know of any such instance where this has been implemented.

Sky DO NOT offer static IP addresses - I think we would've been told that if they did!!

might do in the future though, depends on customer base/number of free IP addresses available...
