      Netgear Wireless N DG834N

      Hi Guys,

New to the forum and have a question.............
Regular Sky modem died and got sick of trying to get hold of technical.

Bought the above modem and appropriate card, spent about 2 hours trying to set it up, called Sky and told has to be their router

Read you need username and password to log on and these are hidden in modem.

read the post on this site but seems a bit complicated......

Is there a tutorial to walk a newbie through this ????????

      regards
      Darren

      Hi,
I used this handy webpage Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4 found on this site somewhere (i have it in my faves now) and it is really easy to get your username and password from the original sky modem.

      Re: Netgear Wireless N DG834N

      Hi -
My sky router is hard wired to my desktop but my sons desktop connects wirelessly with a belkin adaptor.

Unfortunately his connection is always poor strength and often disconnects... not much good for gaming, downloading music etc.

The router is a fair way from my sons computer.

I have been advised that the N routers are much better for wireless connections when in big houses. Would you agree with that info... and is it really easy to change over to a new router... I'm not very good with computers?? but was told by Sky that only their routers work.

As I am now out of my contract anyway, I think it is worth a try buying an 'N' wireless router as if I couldn't get it to work, or Sky found out and cut me off, I am happy to move to another ISP.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.
      Allison
