    Router noise margin 33.0db :S

      Router noise margin 33.0db :S

      hi
      as you can see this is my first post,
      but i have been popping on here since march when i had sky broadband.
      my setup was until recently..
      i used virgin media 10mb
      my 2 kids used sky mid package on wireless connection
      reason for this was for a long time i've been fed up with virgin since they took over regarding their customer service, and switched from the tv package to sky last august as the set top box had more crashes than a blind airline pilot.
      so as in keeping with good tradition my cable modem went awol on me 2 weeks ago
      so i finally told virgin to cancel my broadband and phone.
      so i upped my sky bb to max and all happy as larry
      well until last weekend when i noticed i had more dropouts than uk schools.

      i noticed the noise margin was dropping below 6.0 db and thats when it dropped out
      so this week has been fine speeds upto 7500 down 500+ upload
      so i get from work on saturday 12.30 ish and turn on pc hmm net seems slow


      look on router admin and see 128kbps stated for up and down speed
      and i noticed the noise margin was 33.0db

      i phoned sky and have been told twice now that my phone line can only handle 1mb
      then they change story when they check the router figures
      anyway i was wondering if this coincides with a weekend limit
      or if anyone knows if the exchange is under maintenance

      its cause ur on test speed (we really need to have a sticky as to some things Sky do when testing) - you must've had a previous falt and they've not put ur speed back up.....

      just call up saying u had a previous fault which is now resolved and u need to have the speed put back up

      thanks for the help

      well i phoned sky last monday about dropouts
      no reply from them
      so saturday when the speed was limited i called them again
      they didnt mention anything about testing
      nm
      called them today waited 2 hours for them to call back
      which they never did
      so i called again and asked for tier 3 ( had a ticket number)

      told the guy what "Iamnottheenemy" said
      and he reset the con

      back online only wish i had registered and asked yesterday cus i felt lonley talking to the wife for 2 days

      now its time for some cod2 again

      as i said there will definately be a ticket from previously which'll have tier 3 notes saying something along the lines of 'no sync at 128KB - logging to BT' or something......now u got connection working again it needs to be reset to what it was before - tier 1 have access to the notes so have no excuse
