      Re: Help with flashing please!

I've re-read your sentence "My router works great since I put the generic firmware on to the device, once sky release an update I will be happy to flash back." and after your most recent post, I've realised that when you said "I will happy to flash it back", you mean flash it back to the new Sky firmware as opposed to flash it back to the generic firmware after it's been update to Sky's latest firmware. It all makes sense now!

Re new firmware, yes - not dissimilar to one of my own firmwares but I confess I didn't spot the ISP-initated disconnect bug. I must take a closer look at that one.

      Hey everyone,

I managed to flash my router to the Netgear firmware.

Thanks to mossywell for your advice.

I will now see which firmware connection is better...Sky or Netgear?

      Regards.

At a guess I would say the netgear version was the most reliable as it's the latest release!

Now netgear have released a newer version sky will prob mod it to their liking and release it within the next 3 months I reckon!

      I remember MS-DOS 4.0 - it taught a lot of people a valuable lesson.

Same thing happened to me, flashed my router and wife put kettle on and the trip switch sprung into life!

There is a utility on the netgear site that allows you to install should you run in to problems or the flashing process fails!

My router works great since I put the generic firmware on to the device, once sky release an update I will be happy to flash back. Until then I will continue to use the generic version!
thanks for the info, i don't need it anymore due to being on cable however i can sort it and sell it.

      Re: Help with flashing please!

      Hi everyone,

Since my last post on this thread I have monitored my connection with both Sky (V1.02.28) & Netgear's firmware (V1.02.09).

I'm no expert in reading stats but I THINK that the Neatgear Firmware is much more reliable? (In my case)

Below are the stats from the Sky firmware...
