      Low speeds on Max product

      Hi
Any sugegstions on how I can get my speed up on my MAX product.
      I currently have 2336kbps.
I used to get at least 8.5Mb downstream speeds.
I have done all the usual pluging direct into master socket, changed filters.
I was getting disconenction problems and called the tech service desk. After holding for 30 mins got through to L3 who recalibrated link.
I then called again as speed dropped to 3Mb, again escalated to L3, no call back but now link is showing 2336. I have called again and been told L3 have recalibrated again
I now have to wait for L3 to contact me once more (which they never do it seems)
I am on Slade Green exchange and 1.5km as the crow flies from exchange
Any suggestions on how to circumvent this rediculous system they have.
I used to be on Pipex which never went down but cost more.
I guess you get what you pay for with this.

firstly, yes u do get what u pay for. secondly, you can't compare one ISP over another as all equipment is different (shouldnt really have an effect but it does). thirdly, tier 3 do call back....just usually not in 5 working days, got too much on so just gotta be patient. get a new hobby while ur waiting

I'm not trying to sound clever - but a suggestion for that hobby may be to investigate your internal wiring to see if errors are the cause of your low sync. Start with this utility to get your full router stats
Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4
post the results here and someone will advise

^ LOL...i wasn't trying to sound like an ****, just that a lot of peple seem ot have an over-reliance on their internet connection and i was just trying to shed some humour on the situation....

but yeah, i honestly think all ISPs should make people check their house is in full working order before signing up for BB as it would save a lot of hassle in the long run

And why should we not have a reliance on it? Its a service the same as gas, electricity, telephone or television. You want to hope they have got there act together if they ever enter the business broadband world because large companys wont except "Oh yeah we will ring you back in five days or so, dont worry we will get round to it!! I know it cheap but they should have thought about customer service when they set the prices, the Sky TV service is a completely differen't ball game I have never had any issues with them, I even got through on Xmas day and got my Mums new Sky+ box I brought her set up within minutes!
Rant over, luckily I haven't got any problems at the moment but I do feel sorry for the people who have and feel like they are banging there head on a brick wall.

all im saying is yes, i like my internet connection as its convinient, but i also dont live by it. if it goes down and i cant do internet banking, i call up instead and do it over the phone. if i cant buy something online, i go to the shops instead....

just seems, IMO, the people are starting to take it for granted and dont know what to do if and when it goes down for x number of days....

ANYWAY, i can fully understand the frustration of people who's internet has gone belly up but we will get it sorted in due course.....can only work on one case at a time and id rather get one sorted fully then get quick fixes done and people call back in a few days later

Well if the electricity went off for a week I could buy some candles but that isn't the point!! lol
Ok I will stop winding you up now, just as I had you on the end of the line reeling you in!! I actually rang Skybroadband the other day about a query on my bill and got through straight away so things must be improving. I haven't got anything to complain about really.

Sorry mate I wasn't implying that, I was trying to suggest that the problem might be at his end not skys.

Your second point is very valid as the number of posts on here that involve line faults etc is huge. I suppose tho to the uninitiated it is unfair to expect them to know this so your suggestion of the ISP pointing this out upfront would save a lot of hassle.
      cheers

Re: Low speeds on Max product

Calm down everybody. Thanks for offering to assist.
Below are the sats from my router, mean nothing to me whatsoever.

My router is currently plugged into the master socket, I have also removed the faceplate (thus removing internal wiring to extensions) and plugged directly into the line side but no change in the downstream speed.

      Anysuggestions appreciated

      Cheers

remember some people rely on the internet disabled housebound people etc etc so what you are suggesting is crazy (my opinion)
