Connection Drops for secs then back on

      Hi people,

got connected on Sky Max on Tuesday and have since discovered that now and then I lose my connection.

      1) I have switched uPNP off from the router
      2) Assigned Static IP addys on the 2 PCs that are connected via wire to the router
      3) I've setup rules on the router to fwd ports for msn messenger and Azureus as per the tutorials and they work fine for as long as I'm connected.

I'm posting my line figures below if they can be of use. My noise margins stay within those figures which I think are good??

      Could someone please advise?

      Cheers

Connection Speed 9201 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 28.5 db 17.5 db

When you say you lose connection for a few secs, what do you mean? Are you losing the connection to everything i.e the router loses the connection or is it just one PC at a time? Do your router logs give any clues?

Your line errors are pretty bad and this can't help but the symptoms of this tend to be a fairly sudden grinding to a halt which can only be cleared by a reboot. Your connection speed is certainly suffering because of this though.

      How are you connected?

what happens is that while you are surfing the net you will try to open a webpage to find that u have lost connection to the web....count till 20 and the router will have found the web again and u're up and running. Only logs I have seen on the router are the security logs and they don't give anything away. if there are other logs where can i find them and i'll post the results.

yes i recognise the issue with the line and that's because the router is connected to an extension not the master socket. i will try and change that and post back line stats. the pc's that loose connection are wired to the router. I am now typing from a wireless laptop that never experiences such probs

      cheers

i'm sure as u'll agree that it's best to have a stable connection than a fast connection

Re: Connection Drops for secs then back on

now this is really weird! both PCs that are connected via ethernet cable to the router are switched off

i'm on the laptop connected wirelessly and I am having no problems with the connection.

Could this be a problem with the router????

      Cheers
