Trouble connecting to the internet with non sky router

Recently i bought the linksys wag200g adsl gateway and i can't seem to connect to the internet. I've got the password and user name via using the following url:

Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4

Anyway, i go through the details and it can't connect to the internet. I suspect that i may have added the wrong ISP provider. There was only a button to BT and i believe i'm connected it should be sky. Problem now is thinking whether i need to sort out the VPI/VCI numbers from 0/38, the multiplexing or encapsulation details to get it working or will the default stats work?

If i do need the encapsulation, vpi/vci and multiplexing data how do i get hold of it?

EDIT: Oh and one more thing, do i need to set up my new router with the same ssid and encryption password i was given?

Your ssid and encryption passwords should not affect connectivity to sky. Answers to all your other questions are on this sticky.

I've solved the problem. I merely cut and paste the details for password and sky username from the cfg file and that didn't work. In the end i simply typed each part manually and it worked.

I had to upgrade my firmware on the wag200g to 1.01.04 that seemed to cure the issues i was experiencing
