      Wireless internet problems!

I have just been activated by sky within the last week and everything works fine on the computer which the router is connected to.

When surfing wirelessly on my laptop however I am getting many problems. Every now and then the internet connection just seems to go and I get the 'Page cannot be displayed' message. The only way to usually rectify this is to clear my browsing history or repairing my connection. This happens especially when downloading files and videos etc.

I am putting the problem down the router provided by sky and would like to change to a D-Link router I used previously when I was with Tesco broadband.

What should I enter for the following fields when setting up this D-Link router?

      • Protocol (PPPOE, PPPOA etc.)
      • Encapsulation (LLC etc.)
      • VPI(default is 0)
      • VCI(default is 38)
      • MTU(default is 1432)

      Thanks for your help!

      Moved to correct forum.

Have you by any chance disabled the UPnP on the Sky router?

Yes I was browsing the forum last night and found that solution to the problem and decided to give it a go. Unfortunately I am still having the same problems.

      Re: Wireless internet problems!

I gave sky a call last night to see if they could offer any assistance. The only real advice he could give me was to change the channel from 11 to 1 and see if that helps. Surfice to say it has not made any difference as my internet still cuts out.

I asked if I could use another router which I have but this violates the terms of service apparently. Never heard of anything so stupid because its still sky broadband just a different router. Think its another way of sky keeping tabs on us all!

You are free to use any other router
But they will not give you any settings or Assist you with setup or Support.
