      Sky BB Is Poor

      Hi,

Well I was supposed to be migrated to sky max BB on the 22nd of March and according to Sky this was completed but still no magic light on the router. I waited a further 3 working days and still no BB so I made calls.

Between the 21st and the 22nd of March I requested BT to change my telephone number because of abusive calls, this was completed on the 22nd the day of my activation. I called BT and sky and they both said that this telephone number change will not cause any problems because the BB is on the line and does not have anything to do with the actual number so.......

Today after many calls they sent a BT engineer to my exchange and according to BT a fault was corrected and my BB was live again this was not the case. So after waiting 9 days Im still without BB.

I again called Sky and this time Im told that due to the telephone number change I now need to cancel this order (this will take 7 to 15 days) and then create a new order (another 7 to 15 days) so I lost it big time and blew my top big time.

I requested my MAC code and then told that this will take up to 5 days to come. Sky BB the staff and specially the technical support are a joke and Im 100% not a fan at all.

Has anyone had the same or similar problem or a quick solution to get my BB working.

My exchange is 50ft away from me and its LLU.

      Regards,

      Brian

      Re: Sky BB Is Poor

Called Sky back tonight and they still say I have to cancel on my old number and recreate a new order on my new number.

If this was the case, they does my old number show up on Sky's checker as a free of broadband and my new number already has broadband?

Looks like to me that Sky does not know what they are on about.

Idiots and they have no clue how BB works in my opinion.

      Comments.

I remember someone else (probably on here) having the same problems as you after changing their phone number so you are no alone on this.

      Re: Sky BB Is Poor

Well its been 12 days and I still dont have internet. If I do a test via a broadband checker against my telephone, it says I have broadband on my line, but I have bugger all coming into my home.

I have been supplied with a MAC code so I have that has a last resort.

      Anyone with ideas?

Have you actually tried to connect an alternative router to see if any DSL signal shows?? I assume you may of tried this already..??

Failing that, unfortunately its a case of waiting for Sky to pull there finger out and send you your MAC quick (5 days?? lol.. thats mad, took my last ISP less than a day!!!)

I really appreciate how you must feel .. Technical Support are certainly not the best (I feel as though I repeat myself on this one...duh!)... with Sky its a case of you either have an ENORMOUS amount of patience, or you'll have a nervous breakdown worrying about it...

But as your MAC's on its way, you'll be off somewhere else soon and wont have to worry about it. I don't know if this number will be of any assistance, I saw it in another post..

      Re: Sky BB Is Poor

The reason I asked about trying to connect another router (if you have one spare) is because the router Sky sent me doesn't show a DSL connection at all, nor does it on my sisters Sky broadbandm, or my neighbours...

But Sky insist on Tier 3 "looking into it".... ok, whatever you say Sky!! Duh!!

Yet my other two spare routers do find a DSL signal..

What I am saying is if I took Sky's advice (they said -sorry you are not conected yet..?? when I was!! lol.. ) I would of been still sitting here waiting patiently for my replacement router..instead, here I am online using my old ISP's router and connecting at a great speed!

Just "make sure" you definetly DO NOT have a DSL connection (don't take Sky's word for it..believe me, tech support are terrible..and they don't know there a**e from there elbow..

If you have a spare router..plug it in, you never know!!

      Re: Sky BB Is Poor

Mmmmm.. not a great dilemma to be in mate, perhaps it may be a good idea just to "hang in there" until Sky sort it.. after all as you say it is very cheap and you'll be pushed to find anywhere cheaper (thats why I came to Sky..)

Good luck with it and hope it gets resolved asap, keep us updated on your progress..

Hopefully someone else may come up with other suggestions on how you may approach Sky regarding this..
