How to update your Sky Netgear V2 Black Router with the new FW

Here is a simple tutorial on how to update your Sky Netgear V2 DG934G Router with the new FW

 

 

Please Note: This tutorial is for reference only. There is no FW at the link provided for the Black Netgear Sky V2 DG934G Router to be downloaded at the moment. This is a work in progress tutorial.

Sky have now released the new FW for the Black V2 Netgear Router to SkyUser Members / Guests for download.

If you do not feel comfortable following this procedure, please refrain from attempting to upgrade your router's FW. Sky will upgrade your router over the next few weeks anyway. This is for the benefit of the more technical members / guests.

Please follow these instructions for upgrading your Firmware. Also note that this firmware only applies to the Black Netgear V2 Router, and will not work on any other Sky Router.

 

Before you attempt to do this, please read the following information to familiarise yourself with this procedure.

  1. Use the link below, to download the Firmware image file to your PC
  2. Right click on the link and select 'save as'
  3. Then choose a location to save the file, it is probably a good idea to save it to your desktop for ease of use later.
  4. You should now have on your desktop (or wherever you saved it to) the following file: tbc
  5. Once you have saved the image to your Desktop, go to a Browser Window or Click on this link http://192.168.0.1

Login: admin

Password: sky (or whatever your password is)

Netgear Login

Now, you are logged in:

If you wish to backup your settings: (recommended)

  1. Click on Backup Settings
  2. Click on Backup
  3. Save the netgear.cfg file to your Desktop or somewhere else to keep it safe.

 

Backup Router


We are now ready to start the update off:

  1. Select Router Upgrade

 

Upgrade Netgear

 

  1. Select browse, then navigate to your Desktop or wherever you saved the file called, DG934G-1SKUKS_V2.02.44.img and then select it
  2. Click on Upload and then wait for the procedure to complete

 

DO NOT SWITCH THE ROUTER OFF OR INTERRUPT THIS PROCESS WHATSOEVER


Start FW Update


DO NOT SWITCH THE ROUTER OFF OR INTERRUPT THIS PROCESS WHATSOEVER

No we really do mean it!

DO NOT SWITCH THE ROUTER OFF OR INTERRUPT THIS PROCESS WHATSOEVER

Once this has finished upgrading the router will reboot itself and then invite you to login. Your details should be exactly the same as before.

It's as simple as that!

The new FW should be made available to us in January.

isnt the firmware on the disk, just ring sky and askfor a new disk.

Updated Firmware can be found here http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2649 just scroll down to DG934G-1SKUKS and download up to date firmware.
