How to enable POP on your Sky Email Account
Login to My Sky
Click on Email & Tools at the top of the page

and then click on email icon on next page

When your client loads in, look for "Mail Settings" at top right of page (next to your email address) and click on it

On the next page click on "Forwarding and POP"

Under "POP Download" click on the radio button that says "Enable POP for all mail"

In the drop down box where it says "When messages are accessed with POP" you can
choose whether to delete the email once its been downloaded to your PC or keep a copy on Skys servers
When you're done, click on Save Changes (Don't forget this part!)

Try asking the question in our email forums?
They do work because I followed them and have been using Thunderbird with sky email for ages.
1. Open Thunderbird and select Tools followed by Account Settings.
2. Click Add Account.
3. Select the Email account radio button and click Next.
The Identity screen appears.
4. Enter your full name in the Your Name field.
5. Enter your full Sky Email address (username@sky.com) in the Email Address field and click Next.
6. Choose the type of incoming server you wish to use.
7. The server type you chose at the previous step will determine which incoming mail server settings you need to input:
Incoming server: pop.tools.sky.com
Incoming server: imap.tools.sky.com
8. Set the Outgoing Server to smtp.tools.sky.com and click Next.
9. Enter your Sky Email username (including @sky.com) in the Incoming Username and Outgoing Username fields and click Next.
10. Enter a name for your email account in the Account Name field and click Next.
11. Verify your account information in the dialogue box and click Finish.
12. Select Server Settings from the folder list below your new account.
13. Update the Port value to either 995 for POP3 or 993 for IMAP.
14. In the Security Settings section, select SSL from the Use secure connection options.
15. Select Check for messages at startup and Automatically download new messages 16. Click Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the folder list
17. Select the smtp.tools.sky.com (Default) entry from the list and click Edit. The SMTP Server page appears.
18. Enter smtp.tools.sky.com as the Server Name and set the Port to 465.
19. Select Username and password and enter your Sky Email username (including @sky.com) in the Username field.
20. Select SSL from the Use secure connection radio buttons and click OK.
21. Click OK to save your changes and exit the Account Settings dialogue.
Remember when setting up smtp then if not access first time go to smtp settings section of account manager and click edit and in box where it says use username and password then select it and enter your email address username again then ok it. Download emails again and it should ask for password. Enter it and hey presto emails.
Trying to set up Outlook to receive my emails. It can receive but not send. Have rang sky who cannot help.
I keep getting the following message
Task 'pophost.123-reg.co.uk - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC7D) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) server does not support SSL-secured connections. If SSL-secured connections have worked in the past, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
I don't have a sky email account but just want to use outlook to send and receive emails to my new email account!
The server responded with an error. Account: 'pop.tools.sky.com (1)', Server: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90
Can anyone help please?
I AM TRYING TO CHANGE TO OUTLOOK 2003 BUT WHEN I TRY TO ENABLE POP IN SKY EMAIL I GET THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE (WHICH AS A NON TECHNICAL TYPE I FIND A BIT CONCERNING, ESPECIALLY AS I DONT USE GOOGLE EMAIL) AFTER I CLICK ON THE SKY EMAIL ICON I GET:
"Secure Connection Failed
mail.tools.sky.com uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is only valid for mail.google.com.
This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.
HOW DO I GET PAST THIS POINT?
CHEERS
ALEX
The problem above has resolved itself,
but when I try to save changes I get error code 6400.Any ideas please.
Can anyone help me. I have just moved to sky, internet connection is fine but cannot send or receive e-mails, I get this error message
