Here is a simple tutorial on how to update your Sky Netgear V1 Router with the new FW

Sky have now exclusively released the new FW for the White V1 Netgear Router to SkyUser Members / Guests for download and it will also appear on their website over the next few days.

If you do not feel comfortable following this procedure, please refrain from attempting to upgrade your router's FW. Sky will upgrade your router over the next few weeks anyway. This is for the benefit of the more technical members / guests.

Please follow these instructions for upgrading your Firmware. Also note that this firmware only applies to the White Netgear V1 Router, and will not work on any other Sky Router.

Before you attempt to do this, please read the following information to familiarise yourself with this procedure.

  1. Use the link below, to download the Firmware image file to your PC
  2. Right click on the link and select 'save as'
  3. Then choose a location to save the file, it is probably a good idea to save it to your desktop for ease of use later.

Many thanks for this. Sky seemed to think my router was toast (green and amber lights blinking alternately, despite repeated powercycling & reset switching) and offered to send me a new router. The prospect of 3-5 days delivery time being offline did not appeal so I found this site on my mobile phone, downloaded the appropriate stuff and like magic am back online. I can see why Sky thought that would be too much effort. Thanks a lot!
