Sky To Let Customers Know Their Broadband Usage Figures?

image

Ever since Sky Broadband launched in 2006, customers on any of Sky's packages have never had an official measurement of their broadband usage.

We have received a PM off one of our members, letting us know that Sky are about to let their broadband customers track their broadband usage on MySky. Although this is unconfirmed, it is from a known, credible staffer.

Unconfirmed by PM

Sky are to launch a tool on MySky where you can see how much bandwidth you have used in the last month. Well from what we've seen this is due to start on an as yet unspecified date in October and roll-out to everyone by Christmas.

There was also further clarification of the process when people go over their usage allowance. The customer will receive an email notification, advising them to consider upgrading. If it happens again within 6 months then they will get another email and the system will auto-upgrade them to the next tier.

They have stated that they will not slow people down or charge them extra for the bandwidth when they do go over. I guess this is the end of the line for those people downloading unlimited amounts on broadband base.
