Anyone got a solution thanks dean
few notes from mistakes I made
1. Tick the outgoing server box at the bottom of the server tab
2. when asked to authenticate with username and password, type in full e-mail address.
3. remember to input 465 and 995 or it wouldn't work
Thank you so much for all this help

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Server: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
I have not changed any settings and in my Windows Mail settings are exactly as above. Does anyone have any idea what to do? I have tried reinstalling the email account without success. I can't understand why this has happened.
Al
i'm still not getting it! i've followed these instructions by the letter but when i check 'send and receive messages', windows mail asks me for my logon username and password (which by the way is unticked in account properties), i type in my correct details (full email address and password) and click ok and i can't get through that bit to where it actually downloads your messages. any help would be a relief! cheers.
It says:
Account: 'pop.sky.com', Server: 'pop.sky.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted.', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
I suspect the reason they don't want to correct it is because they want you to use the Sky portal to access your email.
thanks
Bob
My Dad is very pleased he can now use his e-mail!
on settings, lengthen the server timeout to 2 mins, i no longer get that stupid error message!
Worth a try if your having problem
ive done everythung it says to do but it just keeps stopping at the last bit asking for user name and password when i type this in it just knocks it back an asks again when i know this is correct as it lets me into the web mail on sky... any advice?
many thanks
:)
Needless to say after the help from sky I will be moving to a different Broadband provider once my contract minimum time has been reached,
Make sure you go to - tools/accounts/properties/servers tab -
Then tick the 'my server requires authentication' then in the settings, type your full sky email and password.
I couldnt get it to work untill I did that!
Worked a treat.
