None the less if you do a speed test wired up to the router you should see a speed of 5-6mb.

Try doing a speed test here:

Namesco BroadbandMax ADSL Broadband Bandwidth speedtest | Test your ADSL Broadband connection speed
i quiet think da same tht itz nt my master socket :S

here r my speed test reult

      Last Result:
Download Speed: 2519 kbps (314.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 151 kbps (18.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

If you don't know where your master socket is, I'm sure BT would be able to advise you which one it is. I live in a bungalow so I don't know for sure, but aren't master sockets normally downstairs?

Or maybe you could take a photograph of what your router is currently plugged into and it might help.

Your master socket will contain more equipment inside than any other socket.

Try doing as it says in this thread:

      Optimising your Broadband Connection

The optimiser just optimises your computer to make sure it is not a bottleneck and so slowing your possible speeds down. Some people see not difference, but it will just eliminate this as the problem if there is no difference.

Sorry I dont know what you mean by tutorial on how to check master socket.

The bottom line is you need to find your master socket, maybe if you take pictures of the front and back of each of your sockets I can help.

Your upload speed is already at the max possible (or around the max anyway). Download speed is dependant on many factors. If your sync speed increases there will be a potentially greater download speed but you will only achieve this if the server you are downloading from is fast enough and your line is not having many errors. Also if it is peak time then you may not achieve full speed.

The only real way to find out is to test it. Your master socket will give you the best results possible, and if there are no factors outside of your home that are limiting your speed you should see the sync speeds you state and the maximum download speed should be much greater than what you have now
