      SKY Broadband Wireless connection problems

I had BB installled in September and it was working OK. I have a Belkin Wireless Network adapter plugged into the USB as the router is in a different part of the house. Over the last couple of weeks, to get the connection working, I have had to issue the repair command to get the service working. It would hang on Acquiring a new IP adddress for ages.
However, just recently, even this does not work. I get a successful connection message for Network Connection 3 , but when accessing the internet, I then get page cannot be displayed. This goes on and on. I sometimes get a message that Connection cannot be made, and low and behold, the internet is then available. Crazy!
I am a novice when it comes to networks, so can somebody help me resolve the problem.

      Thanks

      Steve

      Hi Steve

The chances are there is another wireless network interfering with yours so playing with the channel settings in the router could well fix it.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the wireless video senders my kids bought and changing the settings in the router fixed it.

Thanks Ray. As I am a novice, where and how do I need to make the changes? Do I need to change the Network adapter as well?

Sorry to be a pain but in this area, a little knowledge is dangerous!

Thanks for your help and support.

      NP Steve

log into the router do the following
Click on the link http://192.168.0.1 and a pop-up box will appear enter the following
      Username: admin
      Password: sky

On the left you will see an option for Wireless Settings click on that and look for
      Wireless Network
      Name (SSID):
      Region:
      Channel:
      Mode:

You could try Mode: Auto to start with.

there is a tutorial here that might help http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/view-wireless.html

Re: SKY Broadband Wireless connection problems

Ray, I got home last night to be told by my daughter that the system was working OK. I did not take it in at first so decided to check for myself. In fact she was right. I asked if she had done anything and I got the standard ' of course not'.

So, the system is now working well, checked again this morning and it was working well, but I haven't changed anything.

Dare I change the channels now that it is working?

Re: SKY Broadband Wireless connection problems

Oh thats good news and nope leave it alone but keep an eye on the other network that pop up as I am guessing thats what the problem is, the 2 of you are clashing in which case you will have to make a change to avoid this in future.
