      Network Key Problems

      Hi,

Trying to connect a Windows ME PC to a Sky Wireless base connection, using a Speedtouch 120 Wireless External Card

It works fine without the security turned on, but when trying to enter to the 8 digit network key it comes up with the following Error message:

"Use 5 Printable characters (or 13 with 128-bit Encryption card)"

What am I doing wrong - it's clearly looking for more numbers but that's the only network key I have, plus it works fine on the laptop I'm currently using

      Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated,

      Question

Do you know which security are you using?

Below are some example codes to give you an idea of whats expected. The router will generate the WEP code by entering a phrase eg skyuser.

      WEP 64bit eg BD3B336431
      WEP 128bit eg 858095ECEED008062CDDB1FCFD
      WPA-PSK eg APTJAUBE

      Good luck

Sounds like the PC needs WEP. You could try setting the router to WEP and setting an appropriate code there.

I don't like using default passwords anyway. I reckon it's a matter of time before someone gets hold of some bit of software sky use to generate passwords and publishes it on the internet.
