Yes - that's the sort of cable you need.
With regard to your wireless issue, you'll probably find it best to temporarily turn off encryption and access control while you're experimenting with positions/aerial etc. But once you see the ease and speed of ethernet I bet you'll want to lose the wireless altogether.

If you cannot get into the router with
You can reset the router on the back of it with a pen and stick it in the hole for about 10 seconds.
You will lose any changes you have made to the router, but then use the username and password above.

Yes, you can return your router to exactly the same settings it was in when delivered by using the pinhole reset button on the back. Hold it in for a number of seconds until the lights change on the front.
When you do that it will revert to 192.168.0.1 and will have admin as username and sky as password.

yeah - CS advised me to do that when first setting up the router. On trying it again now, nothing happens - no lights etc. Any thoughts ???

Maybe whatever implement you are using is too blunt and isn't reaching through the hole to the pressure switch? Try the end of a paperclip.
If not that then maybe you're not holding it in long enough?

No - tried the lot - pens, paper clips etc, etc. and held it in for plenty long enough. It worked first time but nothing since.
Any other way of resetting things or figuring out the passwords etc...

No - if you can't log into the router and you can't reset it then I think you're stuck. Time to ask Sky for a new router.
