connecting to a sky fibre hub

Hi, recently upgraded to sky fibre. Also decided to clean up my old Acer Aspire 5633WLMi (with Vista), using a backup recovery disc. Worked well, but although the laptop has identified the router it's asking for the security key or pass phrase. I've tried putting in the router password, pin, and various other passwords etc but nothing is being accepted. Am I missing something here? What can I do to find the security key I need.

Re: connecting to a sky fibre hub

If you're using the same Sky router/hub you were using for Sky broadband unlimited then the password will be the same as that used before upgrading to fibre.
If you are using a new Sky hub and you haven't changed the password it will be printed on the label on the hub.
If that doesn't work connect your laptop to the hub using an ethernet cable and point your browser to the hub's admin website and set the wifi password to something you can easily remember but still provides good security.

Maybe your wifi adapter drivers need updated. Go to the manufacturers site and download the latest ones available, don't believe Windows when it says you have the latest. The present drivers may not be able to use WPA2, which is the routers default setting. You could also check this by changing the routers settings to WEP, if that works try WPA. But a driver update would be better.
