      This doesn't surprise me.

Since virtually everyone now uses WPA2, to crack it is a major goal for any hacker worth his/her salt.

I wonder how long it will be before WPA3 is released, providing that it has been developed and is under test of course.

I think I'll wait and see the details before getting worried.

This may just be a "proof of concept" thing and require a supercomputer running for weeks to perform the brute force attack. Not something someone sitting outside my house is likely to have or do.

No need to worry, just pick a VERY secure password and increase the time between when router checks the key, still take stupid amount of time to get in.

Re: Oh, dear! WPA2 wireless security cracked

Sending keys over the airwaves is always problematic. Where the distances involved are relatively short as is the case with wifi a solid encryption system where keys are physically input to the devices would be more secure even if temporal keys are only updated every 24 hours.

It might not be as user friendly where manual input is required and syncing could take a long time (even with fast search) if the keys were over twenty three hours old.

Re: Oh, dear! WPA2 wireless security cracked

Another scaremongering article. Three very distinguished experts have said that it is possible. They don't say it has been done, only that there is a vulnerability. Anyone with WPA2 with AES encryption using a pass-phrase of at least 12 characters is relatively safe. Anyone with the ability to beat WPA2 is not going to waste their time on a home user, there are far too many juicier targets in government and the commercial area.
