On hol in an Inn loft room could log onto their wifi through an Edimax Extender no problem and was considering getting an extender to take the wifi into my garden. It would only need one socket.
      I have desktop/laptop Windows 7 and tablet/mobile Android.
      What do you think?

      Re: Extend Wifi Range

Certainly an Extender is a nice option and by placing it is a good position you could cover the garden a lot better.

There are different ways of connecting extenders to the main router. One is by using a long Ethernet cable or a pair of HomePlugs. The second is to connect it to the main router via the WiFi.

In both cases it then allows others to connect to it via WiFi.

Personally I would recommend the option via cable or HomePlugs as the speed drop from using two sets of WiFi connections is noticeable.

      Re: Extend Wifi Range

Fault is fixed. Desktop pc lost signal but adviser said it was the wifi. Got edimax extender, worked perfectly. Can shift it if I want signal in garden rather than desktop or radio.
Hope this is the end of the saga.
      Thanks for all the assistance.
