      Re: Extend Wifi Range

      Thank you both.
I have ordered the vDSL faceplate.
I will return the HomePlugs because the signal is slightly improved to the wifi radio and has been used all day without the signal dropping off.
We have decided when we contact Sky, to order the improved router as well which I understand costs 35?
Before I order the usb adapter for the desktop pc, would I be able to use the old router on it instead of the adapter?
I will post today's stats in my next post.

      Re: Extend Wifi Range

I have a net gear range extender wn2000rpt I think the model is hang ill see if I can get it yea below and its nice didn't have to do much just set my router in a more central location then used the routers wps button from the pc then pressed the wps on the extender and bingo straight in think it does 300mps not sure the sky router maybe holding that back seen as the 2504n only does less than 300mps WiFi maybe 150mps not sure might be less than that lol.

      Re: Extend Wifi Range

you should line move up in speed in upload and download rates but if no change just call support team again ask for dlm to be run or if you get someone who manually reconfigure line saying that you have just fixed a problem with wiring

      Re: Extend Wifi Range

Whilst the WN2000RPT provides a 300mb/s WiFi connection to itself, the WiFi link to your router will still be limited to 54mb/s (144mb/s with the Sagem 2504N).

As for using your old router as an Access Point, you will need to connect it to the new router via an Ethernet Cable or a pair of HomePlugs. The pair you have can be used for this purpose an would be fine.

If your connection is that much better for your radio, and you are considering getting the Sagem 2504N, then as this router has a better WiFi signal you may not need the old router to work like this.

If you have a Sky+ HD STB though, it might be a good idea to keep the HomePlugs and use them to connect it so that you can get Anytime+. If you have the old white Sky+ STB, then it may be a good time to consider upgrading. There are some new improvements coming to the Sky+ HD STB and they promise to be good.

Speedtest.net is not consistent, no matter how many trumpet about how good it is.
