      Access Control only

      Hi All

Just got the wife a android tablet and have problems connecting wirelessly to sky router.
The only way it will connect is to set security option to disable.

My question is: Is using access control (MAC address) to restrict access the computers not on the list enough security?
      Thanks

      Re: Access Control only

It will help, but it is crackable.

I would be inclined to update all the software on her tablet promptly. There may be an issue with it not working correctly with the Sky router without the update.

Revisit the Sky router and set the WiFi security up as you desire. Use WPA2-AES or WPA if that isn't suitable. I have found that if you change the security settings it is easier to change the SSID (WiFi name) as well, otherwise you will need to delete the router's settings from each device and connect from scratch.

I have also found in the past that some devices do not like capital letters in the SSID.

      Re: Access Control only

Thanks for the swift reply Scubbie

I usually use WPA/WPA2-PSK (Mixed Mode), which up till now has worked fine.
I will update all the software on her tablet (but not tonight)
Let you know how I get on.

      Thanks
