      Security when using two routers

      Hi,

I have followed the how-to for extending my wi-fi to the other end of my flat using homeplugs:

How to connect two Routers together

      I have a Sagemcom F@ST2304 and a Billion BiPAC 5200 router.

The connection to the Billion router comes up named as wlan-ap and is not secure. I would rather the Sky network was the only one visible throughout the flat, using my standard Sky wifi login for authentication. Anyone know how to change the Billion router so that it does that?

Go into the settings for the Billion, click the link for Wireless setup. Change the SSID to the same as your Sky router, Select the same security option as your Sky router, it will probably be WPA2 and put in the same password. When you have set up your devices to connect automatically to the Billion you can turn off 'broadcast network name'. You will have to experiment with the channels numbers, try making them both the same for a start.

Are you sure it is a 5200 no letters behind? I did not think this was a wireless router.

      Thanks, you're right, it's a 5200G.

I'll try this later, much appreciated.

Re: Security when using two routers

That worked straight away, thanks very much for your help.

Is there a way of switching automatically to the stronger connection? At each end of the flat I can get one bar of connection, albeit with low internet speed. After a while I'll lose that connection and my devices will automatically connect to the local router, but I'd prefer them to always connect to the stronger signal?

I can only see a way of selecting a fixed connection order on my laptop. Possible or do I have to always manually switch?
