      Two routers, no web access

I am trying to use a second router to provide a good wireless signal at the other end of our house. There is an ethernet cable between the two areas. I think that I am nearly there but I cannot browse the web when connected to the second router. The setup is as follows:

Sky Sagem router connected to ‘phone line
      IP address 192.168.0.1
      DHCP start 192.168.0.1
      DHCP end 192.168.0.99
      WPA-PSK enabled
      Operating on Channel 1

Ethernet cable to Thomson Speedtouch 585 v6
      IP address set to 192.168.101
      DHCP off
      Firewall off
      WPA-PSK enabled
      Operating on Channel 6

      PC running Windows 7 Professional

Works fine when wirelessly connected to Sky Sagem router
Works fine when PC taken to work to connect to wireless network

      Connects to Speedtouch router
Email send and receive works with Outlook
      Ping to yahoo.com receives response

      But!!
Will not let me browse the internet with IE9, Chrome or Firefox

Just to add to the frustration, Blackberry will connect to Speedtouch router and browse the internet.

Any ideas will be gratefully received!!

Check your proxy settings. Go to Control Panel. Change view to 'small icons'. Click on Internet Options. Then go to the Connections tab. Click on LAN settings. Uncheck everything. Click Ok.

Fire up IE9 and report back.

Thank you for your suggestion - tried unchecking 'Automatically detect settings' but still no browser access to the web.

Wireless connection through second router also provides www access for iPod as well as Blackberry but not PC. PC is fine when wirelessly connected to 'first' router.

The only other thing I can think of is clearing your DNS cache via CMD.

To do so run CMD as 'administrator' and type 'ipconfig /flushdns'

Re: Two routers, no web access

Thank you for the suggestion, but still no web access. If this is an issue with the Speedtouch router, is there a make/model of router which should work?

Check the encryption used by the second router. WPA and WPA2 default to different encryption (AES for WPA2) and you may need to downgrade it to TKIP which is a lower level of security but still secure.

It could also be a PC firewall issue. Make sure your PC firewall allows access to the LAN.

Re: Two routers, no web access

Thank you for your suggestion - both routers are using WPA-PSK (TKIP)
