      Hi,

I have got my brother to uninstall the MAC Bride Miniport from device manager and also he has downloaded the driver files but I don't know where to go from there - none of the files downloaded are installation files?

      Thanks in advance!

Go to the device manager and right click on the network adapter and click properties. Then go to the 'driver' tab and look for the driver version number. If it is any different from 7.3.1.127 then click on 'update driver' and select driver from your computer. Then you will click on 'have disk' and navigate to the folder the driver is in.

Also copy the exact name of the adapter if you find one.
LAN Express ASIEEE802.11G PCI-E Adapter is too general and it can't be right.

Re: Wireless connection issues - works without security

      Hi,

Just tried updating the driver for the wireless adapter - it wont update as an error message saying - 'the best drivers are already installed for the device'.

Also the name for the adapter is listed as previously stated and there are no further details I am afraid.

Now when running the ipconfig/all the stats page is the same as previously posted but there is no section for Ethernet adapter Network Bridge, however the information does carry on from:
      Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface

      Any other suggestions?

Also forgot to mention my brother said the stats are the same now for when he is trying to connect wirelessly and when trying to connect via ethernet, however now he can not access the internet via the ethernet!

Re: Wireless connection issues - works without security

Tell him to check that tcp/ipv4 properties are set to obtain an ip address automatically. Not being able to access the internet via ethernet is not enough. You need to be more specific. Does he have an ip address or not when connecting via ethernet? If he pings 192.168.0.1 in CMD (ping 192.168.0.1) what does he get? Does it time out?

If you wan't then you can ask him to install some remote management software like http://www.teamviewer.com/en/index.aspx and somebody can have a look at what's going on. He can still connect via wireless with the encryption disabled right?

Re: Wireless connection issues - works without security

Looking again at your IP configuration, there is no entry for a wireless adapter shown, which is a bit odd. You would normally see an entry even if it was disabled in some way. Can you run it again please and copy the result here?

Go here Download Everest Home Edition 2.20 Free - Everest Home Edition - a freeware system information, system diagnostics and benchmarking solution - Softpedia and download the application. Run it and it will show exactly what adapters are installed. The type/model of the adapters will be shown either on the Summary page or under Devices/Physical Devices.

      Hi,

Really appreciate all your help with this!

How do I know if his computer is obtaining an IP address or not?

      Thanks again

It will be shown in an ipconfig /all and also on the attached devices in the router settings.
