Question New belkin router speed issues limited to 240kb/s

Ok so I have just upgraded to a new belkin F5D8636-4 router. the router is tons better than my old netgear standard dg834gt router which had issues with my families computers.

However I have an issue in that the download speed is limited to 240kb/s! the data rate read by the router is 3424Kb, also my internet usually goes down in speed at 5.30-11.40pm every day and download speeds are about 6kb/s.
Now however my internet is constantly working at 240kb/s it sounds to me like sky has moved me from my standard 8mb connection to a really crappy business connection.

before my internet was really crappy at night however during the day and late at night it worked at upto 600kb/s which was good!

So if anyone has any idea whats going on or know how to fix my issue let me know PLZ

I suspect that you are on Sky BB Connect. Could you post you stats please? From there we can confirm this.

If you are on sky Connect, then I would recommend that you read this thread:

Yea, you are on Sky connect, you're stuffed!!!

Move to a better managed ISP, consider, Plusnet.

The first set of stats confirm that you are on Sky BB Connect.

As Smithy so eloquently put it, there is little that we can do. If you read the link to the Sky Connect thread, you'll have a clearer idea about all the fuss. Essentially Sky BB Connect is a BT Wholesale (BTW) product, re-badged under Sky's name. Many other ISPs also offer BTW products, but none appear to cap the speed as bad as Sky does.

What you need to do now is to find out which LLU providers there are at your local telephone exchange:

      SamKnows - Telephone Exchange Search

LLU providers are in a position to offer you the best packages at ADSL2+ speeds.

If none are available, then you can also see from the above link whether your exchange has BT's '21CN' which is also ADSL2+. This will allow your speed to increase with a new provider.

Next take a look around at the different ISP who can provide you a BB service. See what any other support sites say about them and take things from there.

thinkbroadband :: List of Broadband Providers in the UK

When you know who you want to go to, get your MAC code from Sky, don't cancel though as this will cause you more problems.

Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
