Re: Nightmare first day - Sky Broadband

Dont think it can be the network adaptor as it worked with the old BT, and ive also tried the laptop over at my house and works fine wirelessly.

IP addresses are obtained automatically, have tried manually aswell.

Not many things left i can think of either :/

When you are attempting to connect by wireless can you do an ipconfig. Open a Command Prompt, type ipconfig /all hit enter, copy and paste the results here. Make sure the ethernet is disconnected when you do this.

That looks OK. On the strength of that you should be able to connect and you should not be getting Unidentified network.

Another thing you can try is disabling IPv6 in the Wireless LAN properties, this has been known to cure the problem.

Some have also cured this problem by resetting the router. If you want to try this, push a pin in the reset hole on the rear and hold it there till the tick light flashes.

      Still scratching head

Do you have a virtual wireless adapter in network adapters if so try disabling it.

Sorry for not replying quick enough, had another nightmare with my girlfriends other laptop. Was watching a footy which had adverts over it, didnt click any but somehow managed to get that "Win 7 Home Security" virus. Took me hours to sort it

As for the virtual wireless, only adapters are local area connection (ethernet) and the wireless one, Atheros.
