I'm using vista home basic on a Toshiba laptop and it wont work for me. the computer connects to the router, but it says local only, so I have to use a lan cable from the router.

      Re: Vista wireless

You should also check that your drivers are up to date.

      Don't check through windows though.

      To find your wireless NIC

      Go to:

      Start
      Control panel
Classic view/ large or small icons
      Device manger
Scroll down and click on the + symbol beside network adapters
Type into google the name of the wireless NIC and search for the latest driver.

If it has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark beside it, it definitely needs a driver update.
