      Loss of wireless conectivity

Up until a few hours ago I was able to get wireless internet connectivity from my Sagem router. However from some reason I no longer can but can still get ethernet internet connectivity. Despite trying to reset the router several times the wireless part of the router appears to have failed. Does anyopne have any explanation for this and a possible remedy?

      Thanks

      Re: Loss of wireless conectivity

For the benefit of ruling out some other things, could you try connecting to the router via an Ethernet cable and sign in to the router and check the settings for the WiFi are enabled.

To do this, follow these instructions:

Type 192.168.0.1 into the address line of your browser

      Enter these details: Username: admin
      Password: sky

      Click on the 'SETUP' tab

Ensure that a tick appears in the boxes beside 'Enable Wireless Access Point' & 'Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID)'

Next, if this is all fine can you download & install inSSIDer?

Once you've installed it, can you run the program to see if your router is visible and report back. It would also be good to see other WiFi signal in your local area.

Also could you let us know what O/S you are using too.

Is the wireless light lit on the router? If wireless is enabled and there is no light, the wireless is dead. You will need to replace the router.

It's not your cat that is causing interference is it?

      Re: Loss of wireless conectivity

      All lights were green.

Fortunately I found that I had a spare router that I found and when I connected that one up all was well. Interestingly just prior to the loss of wireless connectivity I was watching SKY TV in my kitchen via a wireless sender from the lounge and for some reason there was a heck of a lot of interference that I only experience when I'm using my microwave oven at the same time as the TV sender however at this time I wasn't using the microwave so where the interference was coming from is a mystery.!!

As for the cat causing it maybe it was and maybe it wasn't we just don't know!!
