Question Thinks you learn searching - Homeplugs / powerlines

i love a quick search and reading for about 3hrs today which homeplugs to buy or powerlines etc, ive been running a wireless sender unit from my virgin box worked ok picture was steady but poor

so i moved my Zotac Mag mini upstairs when i got sky installed week and a half ago, sky player was really good 2.5 signal and no lack decent picture all ok

i watched the squash action on bet365 with stream transport ( software to download the stream avoiding lag) all was good

last few days the sky player has been poor loads of lag etc, so i read on never even heard anyone talk about homeplugs or powerlines

so today ive jumped in and ordered some TP-Link TL-PA211 200Mbps Mini Powerline Networking Kit

anyone had good or bad experience with them ?? ive searched for reviews but not many about anyways there ordered from amazong 48 posted

back soon with hopefully a major speed success, i have heard that the ZOTAC has a very poor wireless receiver thus my 10.3mb speed isn't working to full potential

don't you just love tech and gadgets, gets me smilling for another few days

Not specifically that pair. The spec indicates that they should be sufficient to do the job.

It might be beneficial for you to post your Router's stats to ensure that you're getting the best from your connection.

Also could you confirm what type of setup you have there. For example; how many sockets, how is the router connected.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

Zyxel got slated when i checked some reviews from the last few months, TP link were cheaper and offered the 200mbps option, the reviews were all good hey they must all be pretty much the same tech inside ??

cheers for the reply if you get time let me know what you think about my stats

      cheers again Russ

Things certainly appear to be improving.

The stats appear to be fine now.

As for the '200mbps' quote, what they actually mean is 100mbps in each direction at the same time, which is the same as the Sky router.

      cool onwards and upwards

100mbps both ways so 85mbps would be split also ?? or is that not right

Re: Thinks you learn searching - Homeplugs / powerlines

I believe the 85Mb ones are 85 in both directions. It might be 'not at the same time' though.

Should you ever be in a position to transfer files between two PCs on the same network, then you'll notice any bottle neck.

Whilst I am aware that some members have the 85mbps HomePlugs, personally I would encourage people to look a little further ahead. Since Gbit LANs aren't yet the standard, 100Mb devices will be more than sufficient.

With the introduction of FTTC, the day when you get a faster connection will be getting closer now. FTTC is currently rated to a max of 40Mb, but could easily be upgraded to 100Mb in due course.
