      Connecting a mobile

I am trying to connect my husband's mobile (Samsung Galaxy S) to our broadband. I can see the network on his phone but it's asking for the password and I haven't set one on the router. I wouldn't even know where to go and set a password! What password is it after?

      Re: Connecting a mobile

If you have not set one, it will be the default set on the router when you received it.
If you look on the side of your router the label has a network key printed on it. Enter this as the password and make sure to match the case (Capital Letters).

Excellent, thanks. How do I know the phone is using our home broadband to connect and not his Vodafone airtime?

It's not using our wi-fi, do I need to add a mobile phone to the access list?

Ok, did you enter the password (Network Key) on the phone? Did it accept it?

      Re: Connecting a mobile

Yes, ok, I have a connection, but I had turn access control off on the router setup. Can I still set it up so it's secure with only his mobile or do I have to have open access to connect with a mobile?

      Re: Connecting a mobile

You could add the mobile to the Access control list, or you can leave it off. It is your choice. Your network is still secure though as no one can connect to it without the network key.

      Re: Connecting a mobile

Great, but is the network key unique to each router because I'm just using the standard one that came with it?

      Re: Connecting a mobile

Yes it is unique. You can change it through the router settings if you wish.

I think I've done enough meddling for now, I'll tackle that later! Thanks very much, he's been nagging me for months to get this sorted and I didn't have a clue! .
