Question Will this setup work with my sky router?

Hi, first time poster here so be easy. Lol.

I've built up some bits and pieces over time whilst I was living elsewhere now ive finally settled down i want to get my broadband and network setup.

Basically I have the d-link DSL-2640S and want to either use my belkin range Extender (F5D7132) as a range extender initially then as a WAP off a home plug.

I also want to run a western digital my book NAS drive on it as well for my ps3, hence why I'm tempted to run home plugs.

Does anyone think I'm goin to Run into any issues. The range extender is my biggest concern as I'm not sure the router supports this.

Also, how long does it take to reach maximum speeds, only got connected today but is showing max download speed as 4mb.

      Thanks in advance.

      Phil.

Re: Will this setup work with my sky router?

      Hi Phil

I have the Netgear router with a Belkin F5D7132 extender to improve the WiFi upstairs. I have been using 14Mbps homeplugs (for a networked printer, another PC and Sky Anytime+) and have recently installed 200Mbps powerline adapters to stream video to a media player. I currently have a bit of a speed issue and am not sure if this is caused by the router or the powerline adapters - so tread carefully.

I have posted a question in AVS on this - Powerline/homeplug adapters - do yours live up to your expectations? [POLL] - AVS Forum - see post #8.

      Cheers, J

Re: Will this setup work with my sky router?

@Marillet: I suspect your problem is more to do with the fact that you are running a 14Mb & 100Mb LAN through your electric cables at the same time.

I don't suffer speed issues on the adapters I have. These are 100Mb only.

It is normal to sync to the slowest speed for many other products, so I suspect this is what is happening with your adapters.

@PhilW: Your BB speed will gradually increase over the next few days, once DLM kicks in. Don't worry too much for now as there isn't a huge amount to do until it has completed. Just make sure that your router is plugged in the master socket, with the filter & has a good connection. Do leave your router on during the day & overnight as DLM will take as many stats from it as possible.

Re: Will this setup work with my sky router?

      Thanks both. Good to know.

Im finished goin through DLM now, very happy with the speed, router has finished on a shade over 18mbs and 1.1mbs upload.

As far as my hardware, NAS drive is working fine although I cannotnge the bittorent client to work even tho I've added the serves and opened the ports on the router to forward to the NAS.

The ranged xtender isn't working either, it will connect and extend the range but any device connected to it will not connect to the net. Very strange. Not much need for it to be honest as the range of the dlink is very good.

      Thanks again.
