      Wireless functionality

      Hi everybody!
New to Sky and this forum. Been with Sky broadband approx 1 month and on my 3rd DLink router. 1st one didn't power up at all out of the box and the 2nd one set on fire. 3rd router been OK until today.
Router will not display the green LED for a wireless signal and my partners laptop cannot detect a wireless network. Reset the router to no avail.
Logged onto the router but couldn't see anything obvious. Just wondering if there;s a way of making sure the router is broadcasting the signal.

      Cheers,

      Ciderdrinker.

Thanks mate, had figured that bit already. What I'm trying to do is get the wireless back on again. Any ideas?

      Re: Wireless functionality

Within the router settings page, click on 'set-up' to go into the wireless settings and ensure 'enable wireless access point' and 'allow broadcast of SSID' are ticked.

      Re: Wireless functionality

      Thanks for the tip!
Tried it and still no wireless. Also tried changing the channels and ticking the wireless boxes but no better.
Starting to think this router is shafted as well. Anybody else having trouble with the Dlink router?

      Re: Wireless functionality

This is the first report i've heard of these problems with the dlinks. I'd probably go so far as to say your just unlucky!
Get onto sky and get a new one sent out - they may still have some old sagems so if you've lost faith in the dlinks then theres no harm in asking for a sagem instead!

      Re: Wireless functionality

You do seem to have been very unlucky.

The second router -- was it the router itself that caught fire or the power supply?

When you got the second and third routers did they send a new power supply and did you change it?

      Re: Wireless functionality

Nope not just unlucky I have had this problem with d link router too eventually the sky tech support have changed me to WEP and not WPA.

TBH I don't know the difference between WPA and WEP but wireless is now working - seems there is a compatibility issue with the security apparently!
