give this a try, might work. try going to - control panel-administrative tools-services-scroll to bottom of long list, double click WLAN autoconfig, on the general tab, were it says startup type make sure automatic is selected, then under it says service status click start or stop then start.then apply-ok. then go into control panel- network & sharing centre - change adapter settings - then right click the wireless and then left click properties, should have 3 tabs now, click wireless networks tab and select use windows to control my wireless network.then try to connect wireless again.

It could be that trying to install the different adapters has messed something up in your settings. What I would do is look for a Restore Point before you started to try and install the adapters and run System Restore. While it is restoring go and make yourself a nice cup of tea and calm down. When the Restore is complete, install the drivers for the adapter and see if it works.

Read the earlier posts. This is Windows 7, it doesn't have a wireless tab in adapter settings.

Im using the Sky Netgear Router, The black one, could this be the problem???

Lots of people seem to be having the same trouble on the net but none show soultions
The only other things I can think of are:
      - delete network from firewall settings
      - reset router to factory settings (paper clip in reset hole)
then see if you can connect with no security and go from there.

Tried resetting the router to FS and nope still noo connection.

One thing i thought of was.....

is my router to blame, There is no other way i can try another tho not without buying one which I rather not do. are the SKY router compatable with WIN7?

Re: Unable to make wireless connection WIN7

Did you try the suggestion to install the adapter on your other Win 7 PC?

Routers do not require driver so compatibility with an OS does not come into it. Where there may be compatibility issues is between the adapter chipset and the routers. It would be unusual for this to cause a failure to connect, although it could reduce the efficiency. Normally if there are signed drivers available, there will be no issues.

Personally I think my adaptor is fine it can see the router and asks for the net key.

But after trying to connect it just says its unable.

I am stumped - before this i thought i was pretty gemed up but now!!!!

      it just wont connect!

I still think this sounds like a firewall problem, which is why it's helpful eliminating the adaptor as a problem by trying it in a different PC. You aren't running more than one firewall are you? Are you sure Windows Firewall is off?
