Just about any adapter will work OK, but for best compatibility you might be better with one from Netgear, such as this Netgear WG111 Wireless 54Mbps USB 2.0 Adapter: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo
There is a 108mbps version available, at about twice the price, but it is only useful if you are going to transfer a lot of files within your network.

I think you misunderstood the question Steve.

Hi Tom I was trying to see if mandy30 had an adapter and if it was not working find the reason why. I know I should have just said I have used a Belkin but everyone has one that they prefer Amazon.co.uk: usb wireless adaptor I will try not to confuse the answer just me thinking to far ahead just in case. Thanks Tom

      Re: which wireless adapter

If you are running Windows 7 or have plans to then make sure you do not get the Netgear WG111 Wireless 54Mbps USB 2.0 Adapter VERSION 2. Version 2 is not compatible, however version 3 is according to Netgear. I was also told by Sky, but I don't know if it is true that it's not worth getting a 108Mbps as their current routers do not support it.
Hope this is of help to you.
