Red face Can't reach the distance

Hi, I new to this and can't tech speak so try and make things simple as possible.

I have joined sky less than 6 months ago and still can't seem to solve this problem. I have the sky router in my bedroom at the back and I have a Pc in the lounge that is about 25 feet away. The PC is connected with a Belkin N dongle that has a great connect. I have two laptops that when in the lounge. It can see the wireless connection but can't connect to it. I have connected my laptop with a Belkin N dongle and it still cannot pick up the connection. If I walk about 24 feet from the router I get a perfect connection for both laptops.
I have change the channel on the router (1,6 and 11) to no avail. Is there something I am missing? Any advice?
