Detecting wireless network but not connecting

Hello everyone, newbie here with a problem.

We moved our desktop PC upstairs about 4 months ago and converted it to wireless using an Edimax USB adapter on Windows XP. No real problems until last week, it is detecting the network but will not connect. If I connect directly to the router and change channels it works ok but the next time I switch on itís back to square one!!
I have checked the wireless zero configuration is set to start and have played with the wireless network connections. Sky have advised changing channels and changing the network name which has worked until I turn on the next day.
I have also tried restoring the system to an earlier date but with no luck.

My work laptop has no problems whatsoever and is connecting OK.

I have tried a forum search but it has not helped solve this problem.

      Regards,
      Neil

Try downloading and running Inssider from the link below. This will show you what networks are active in your area and the channels they are using. Choose a channel as far from those in use as possible and make sure you click the Apply button when you make the changes.

Also make sure you have the latest drivers for your adapter. Very often the ones on the CD that comes with it are out of date before they are sold.
