      S/N jumping from 7 to 3dB - Netgear Black

      Hi,

I have just received a replacement router. Before i had the 1st gen white Netgear router, that always showed my download attenuation to vary between 7.4 and 7 dB. I have just received a replacement Netgear black box, and notice the attenuation is varying from 7dB to 3dB at times - within a 1 min period.

      Surely this cant be right?

Check your filters and try swapping the wire that connects the router to the socket.

If you can also run the router tool that will track your SNR etc for a few days that will show if there is anything to really worry about or if it is just a bug in the way the router is interpreting the Noise Margin.

ive tried 2 filters - including my old one. using same cable as i did before - never seen this much variation with the white negear. Is there a tool to get the full stats from this router, like with the white version?

Where can i download this router tool?

      No, no detailed router stats.

What was wrong with the first router?

Sky done a test and thought the router was at fault, however now my attenuation has dropped to 1dB, im going back to the old one. This replacement is a pile of sh*t.
