      Wireless Connection Keeps Dropping Out

I have the standard white Sky Router and Belkin Wireless G Plus USB Network Adapter. The 3 lights remain lit on the router, but the wireless connection keeps dropping out (usually once per session). I'm pretty good with spreadsheets and databases, but not with this kind of thing - can anyone offer a solution?

      Many thanks.

      Log in to the router:-

      192.168.0.1
      User - admin
      pass - sky

Go to Wlan and change the channel, start at 13 and work your way down.

With the DG834GT you may have to change the Mode first before you can change the channel. Change it from Auto 108, to b & g or g only.

Re: Wireless Connection Keeps Dropping Out

I've been trying different channels over the last few weeks - some are better than others, but none completely solve the problem. My other settings are:

      Region: Europe
      Mode: g&b

Enable wireless access point is checked
Allow broadcast of name is checked
      Wireless isolation is not checked

      Security options = WPA-PSK

Is there anything here that could be the problem - or does anyone have any other suggestions?

      Many thanks.

The main problem is that your using wireless, if you can use a wire or homeplugs.

I was using a wire, the problem being I lost speed because of it - so I either lose speed or it keeps dropping out? I see a move to cable on the horizon!!

Re: Wireless Connection Keeps Dropping Out

You will not loose speed because of using a wired connection, you will with wireless. Did you phone Sky to have your speed adjusted as I suggested over a year ago?

      Post your current stats please.

You may be a victim of Sky's insistence in putting ADSL2+ on very long lines.

Re: Wireless Connection Keeps Dropping Out

You are on ADSL2 but it seems to be working quite well with your line, 4-5Mb is about s much as you can expect with your attenuation. Are you still getting drop outs with the wired connection?
