Exclamation Laptop works fine with ethernet but freezes with wireless adapter

      Hi guys,

I'm at the end of my tether here and could really do with some help. I recently reformatted my daughter's laptop (an old Medion) and reinstalled XP. Having updated all the drivers, installed SP1,2 and 3, and activated Windows Firewall (all via the ethernet cable) I then reinstalled the software for the wireless adapter - a BT Voyager 1060. It found the network and seemed to be working fine. I unhooked the ethernet and then carried on surfing for about four minutes when the screen suddenly froze. I left it for 30 mins to see if it would unhang but nothing had happened and I was forced to power down manually. Since then this has happened on every occasion I have used the laptop wirelessly. It doesn't seem to be associated with any particular activity as I can load a web page and leave it but when I come back, say 10 mins later, its crashed again. I have no other software loaded but did update the Voyager driver - to no avail. I don't think it's spyware as I repeated the reformat/reinstall of XP again and the same happened. To my untutored eye it is clearly a wireless issue as it will work for hours via the ethernet but as soon as I connect wirelessly it will be just a few minutes before it goes down. A couple of times it has happened as I've accessed a vid on YouTube if that helps at all. If anyone can offer any advice/assistance I'd be much obliged. Please keep it relatively simple, just like me.

      Cheers

      Andy

Have you tried using Windows wireless manager?

Also check for the latest drivers available on the internet or if your on the latest try rolling back to a previous version.
