Tried the restore point too. No luck.

I only switched from BT to Sky about 3 weeks ago and everything was fine until wednesday. It just seems like the wireless on this laptop is suddenly incompatible with the Sky router.

Tried rolling back drivers, uninstalling and resetting. Think I'm just gonna switch back to BT.

Did you try connecting with the security in the router disabled?

Also make sure that the wireless access list is not enabled.

No luck with the security disabled either,

Checked the wireless access is not enabled and noticed there was nothing in the trusted wireless stations box if this means anything?

      Re: Second laptop won't connect

As long as the box for Turn Access Control On is not ticked, the Trusted wireless stations is not active. When you get sorted out, it is a good thing to enable as it gives you an extra layer of security, barring others from access to your network.

All I can suggest is that you try reseting the router by pushing a pin into the reset hole at the rear and holding it there for 10 seconds or until the lights flash. Remember this will re-enable the wireless security, so you will have to connect by cable and turn it off again. Unplug the cable, reboot your Laptop, make sure the wireless is turned on and try to connect. Apart from this I am afraid I have run out of ideas.

As a last resort I reinstalled Vista. Still not seeing my router. Seeing my neighbours and connecting but not mine.

      Re: Second laptop won't connect

Ok, lets summarise. The router's WiFi is working fine as many devices will connect and work correctly.

One laptop however doesn't connect by WiFi even though it connects by LAN. This suggests the problem is with the laptop rather than the router.

Trying a USB WiFi adaptor on the problem laptop also doesn't work and doesn't see the Sky WiFi. However the laptop will connect to an unencrypted WiFi source close by.

Changing the channel doesn't help and all the devices are set to 802.1b&g.

How about changing the encryption key on ALL devices to a new key using exactly the same encryption method. See if they all then connect.

      I hate admitting defeat

Can you try running ipconfig again, this time unplug the cable and make sure the wireless is turned on?
