      Wireless problems!!!!!!!!

      Okay, I have a sky broadband connection and have done for over a year.
      I have been using the same laptop for over a year.
      No problems.

      I turned on my laptop yesterday and AAAARRRRGGHH!!!!
      No internet connection.
      I managed to keep the cold sweats away while I unplugged my cable from the Xbox and plugged it into my laptop.
      NOTHING!!!
      Then the panic set in.

      I called sky.
      They talked me through ALOT of jiggery pokery on the laptop

      * Unplugging router.
      * Resetting router.
      * Fiddling with Network connection properties.
      * Deleting cookies, history, temp files, etc.
      * Logging into router. (It was at this point the woreless started working even though we never got to actually change anything when I logged in.)
      * Sacrificing a virgin and preying to the god of wireless.

      This morning, same deal.
      No internet.
      I managed to get on eventually by plugging the cable in again and changing network connections/internet protocols(tcp/ip) to "Use the following IP address" and manually inputting them.
      I still have no wireless though.
      It sucks. I now have a cable trawled across my living room floor, tripping everyone up and driving me mad.

      The wireless hangs when trying to connect, it says "Waiting for network to be ready" and then gives me the "Limited or no connectivity" message.
      I cannot access anything online if I unplug the cable.

      Can anyone help me?

      If you need any other information I can provide it.
      Any help would be great as I am currently an inch away from throwing the router out of my window at the next Sky van I see drive past.

      What channel are you on, what was it on and what channels have you tried, this is most likely a wirelss signal issue an no ammount of clearing temp files will help.

      Are you getting a connection at all to the router?

      If you have a stable connection to the router and its fine online and you can access the router status threw the ethernet then your not up shizzle creek.. my suggestion is to

      1. log into the router and change the Channel from the standard to another channel (sumone can provide a tool possibly to scan the surrounding area)

      2. remove Wireless security temporary

      3. remove you sky saved setting from your laptop in *manage wireless networks*

      rescan and try that, if it suceeds reenable the security and repeat stage 3.

      Re: Wireless problems!!!!!!!!

      I think you are just another victim of the proliferation of wireless networks. Try downloading Netstumbler from the link below and do a search for networks. Set your channel to one as far from the others as possible. Remember you can use channel 13. This should fix it till someone else joins the game.
