      wireless speed

      Hello all,
I have 3 PCs all connecting to my Sky router via wireless. They all have a download speed of about 2mb however when I connect any one of them via a cable, I get almost 4mb download speed. All PCs are set for 802.11g and I have tried changing the channel.

      any other suggestions welcome.

      Thanks

      Re: wireless speed

Wireless is nearly always much slower than wired. You can try changing the channel on your router to see if it gives you any better reception, but it may not help. The lesson is, use wireless for general browsing and wired for downloading, or don't use wireless at all.

Bin the wireless and use homeplugs.

      Re: wireless speed

Agreed. Wireless is a poor substitute for a proper connection. LAN cable is best, or failing that LAN cables using HomePlug.
